Indeed, our first Takoyaki party was successful!
Coincidentally, we were having 2 groups of Australian, one lives in Tasmania and the other one used to live in there.
So I invited all of them for a Takoyaki party in this memorable situation we had.
Takoyaki is an iconic food and origin in Osaka. So people in Kyoto don’t really cook it at home though .
Actually, I got a Takoyaki cooker from my Osaka friend and we learned how to cook from watching YouTube video (sounds like we are quite a bad teacher for our guests lol). However, the little Australian girl had learnt quickly from us and helped us cooking.
To my surprise when she tasted the Takoyaki, she doesn’t like the tako (octopus).
According to her mom, she is not a fan of seafood though. I think, she was just enjoying to use the skewer to turn the Takoyaki balls over until they are round and brown all over.
Though that was something a small event but I was impressed on their behavior.
Both of our guests brought small gifts such as small flower bouquet ,snacks , a fruit and a paper written “thank you very much” in Japanese.
I think this is their culture when they are invited in anywhere in the world and that is very nice.
Thank you so much all for joining our event and looking forward to our next Takoyaki party. We will become a good teacher until then !
